The first electric cars were built in the previous era. Back in the 1800's they were common. In fact, in 1900 there were many. 20% of motor vehicles were electric cars. However, there were soon gone. Sadly, the main culprit was cheap gas. Well, that will soon be a fading memory. As we run out of oil the electric cars will come back again. Here is a brief history of the electric car.
