When buying a new home, flood risk is one concern. I do not like getting my home close to a lake or near a river. There are many serious reasons. Like this is one. Please check a map. Find out where the flood zones are. Don't buy if your dream home is close to one. Make DAM sure that you are on high ground as this will prove important later on.
