start up visas

Start up visas are to give foreign inventors the opportunity to stay in US. Sounds like a good idea. Most of what we see, came from inventors. Still, it seems to me that most inventions require a lot of hard work and labor for years. They are often laughed at even. It is only in later years, when people finally see the value of things that are new. For example, take a look at inventor Steven Gibbs and all the problems he has.

2010 predictions

Weak dollar has many bankers buying bullion. Get ready for an interesting new decade which will see many woes. Death of the dollar is one. The new ticker symbol for the greenback should be RIP as in rest in pieces. Ben Bernake is still running his printing press. Sadly one of my predictions is the we will have too many dollars chasing too few goods as is his recipe. A recipe for hyperinflation down the road as we imitate weimar germany.

OK my 2010 predictions are more of the same. US continues to decline as China continues to rise. Also see a rise in russia. They are a major oil exporter and we will see an increase in price. The days of cheap energy are over. People, this is a major keystone prediction.

Lithium Shortage

For some reason there are few electric cars. Perhaps it is the high cost of batteries increases car price. Well, some more bad news. There could be a lithium shortage in the days to come. It seems this lithium shortage could destroy any changes of hybrids for the next gen. It is a dead end street for electric cars.

currency collapse disorder

What happens when when you print lots of little green pieces of paper? We will soon find out. History tells us some cautionary tales about weimar germany. People will use wheelbarrows full of worthless paper money. The gov wants to keep running our printing press. But as each new digital dollar is printed out the value goes down and prices increase. What we have now is an orangeback ten that looks like monopoly money. I call it currency collapse disorder, and it will arrive soon.

Mortage Meltdown is not over

They tell us houses are selling again. However, my local realtor says he still has houses for sale from last year. OK yeah 2007 even. They are not moving. Also, This is a credit crunch as low cost home equity loans evapoRATE. The Mortgage Meltdown that started in 2005 is not over.

prepare for worst case senario

People things are not going well, and that is the understatement of the year. Please read This Time is Different: Eight Centuries of Financial Folly

OK yes it really is different because we got - TECHNOLOGY. It means humans nature does not change, and we are still basically a bunch of primates. That said we should get ready for an economic worst case scenario next year.

incomes up?

US gov says incomes are up. OK, well I disagree. First off, how can incomes rise. People have been forced to take cuts in pay. Others are out of work due to businesses going under like Circuit City, Mervyns, etc. There are many engineers pumping gas. Former college educated white collar workers are doing fast food and listed as employed, but they make far less money.

Tuesday, December 22, 2009

Carbon Tax

OK what does a carbon tax mean? Right now the electric company pays 4 cents per kilowatt hour burning coal and you pay 8 or 9 cents at the meter. A windmill produced electricity at approx 15 cent per KW/H so you would end up paying 30 to 40 cents per KWK. That means your $200/month electric bill could go up.

How high? Well try maybe $500/mo and then some.

states empty jails

State are in a cash crunch situation. OK many states are doing early release of prisoners. This is causing concern. Perhaps, we can understand how this will affect the rate of crime. Typically in a recession it goes up. With few jobs, many believe former inmates will return back to their previous life of crime.

When banks fail in the future there may not be any recourse. As transnationals grow, they may claim that all is well, but our fragile economy says no. I believe that precious metals are a way to store value for that gray day when it rains.

Illegals on ice

ICE is targetting illegal aliens with a past of crime. However, all illegal aliens are by definition committing a crime. They are not suppose to be here even. That is like saying a short midget since they are all short it is redundant as we can see.

Perhaps in an alternate time line there are no illegal aliens and we all get along see. However, here there is a push to keep put certain groups.

Jobs in our recession

People there are no easy solutions and this recession is not over. True our prez pretends that all is well, but hell where are jobs? OK many people who found new jobs have been forced to take steep cuts in pay. This prez is clueless on jobs. Real unemployment is not 10% but more like 20% and rising.

What is real

Houses and hotels built on a cash foundation. photo

Sadly, rather than fix the problem our gov claims there is no prob. They say that rapidly improving labor markets means we are now in an economic recovery. That the great recession has ended and we are now seeing unemployment improve.

What I say is that this depression, which will be worse than the one in the 1930s maybe has not ended, in fact, it is just getting started. People, we cannot print worthless little green pieces of paper and expect that all is fine while we produce nothing. I am talking about the orangeback ten that looks like monopoly money. Take a look at Walmart, 99% of their merchandise is MADE IN CHINA. How much longer can this game go on?

What recovery?

Globe on top of a variety of different currency notes and coins, representing foreign exchange (similar to another image but the sharpest focus is on the currency) photo

Figures are in. Employee are getting lower wages. Macy's said Thursday its same-store sales fell worst-than-expected 6.1% from last year. Let me see, last year we were in free fall and in a recession. Debunkers say "Listen, you're crazy, everything is fine." Do the math. People are losing jobs, those who still have jobs are getting less hours, and many are forced to take cuts in wages.

Jobless claims at half a million

It troubles me to say it, but half a million americans lost their jobs last week. Jobless claim were unchanged last week. Sadly, companies continue to shed jobs. What we need is job gains.

As american industry is shut down and move to china, fewer people can find jobs. The deinstrialization of USA is causing hardship to many workers. It is a foregone conclusion that politicians will do nothing except play the blame game.

Personal bankruptcy rises

Recently fired businessman holding a cardboard box filled with his belongings. Isolated on white. photo

The number of personal bankruptcy soars as our severe economic recession increases pain. Please wake up. When people lose jobs they lose their homes, cars, etc. The rise in bankruptcy of consumers is a sign. What we must do is ignore rosy predictions of economy "experts" and focus on reality. For example, look at the empty malls, shuttered factories, and giant crowds of unemployed.
